Founded in February 2016, the Research Institute of TSINGTUO Group is specialized in stainless steel industry about the development of new technology & products, quality improvement and the customer-oriented application technology research. It consists of six departments involving sheet metal, long product, quality management, smelting technology, rolling technology and analysis & detection. It has been certificated by the CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) and been honored the Enterprise Technology Center of Fujian Province. 

The Research Institute of TSINGTUO Group has three major characteristics. First, it is full of talents. There are more than 500 in-service staff members, with Dr. JIANG Laizhu as president of the institute and technical experts as the heads of departments and the chief engineers. It has established industry-university-research cooperation with Fudan University, Central Iron & Steel Research Institute, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Hefei General Machinery Research Institute, Fuzhou University, etc. 

Second, it gained strong R&D investment. It has gained over 50 million yuan in equipment procurement and over 63 million yuan in R&D expenses. It has more than 80 sets of analytical and testing instruments, has set up laboratories for electron probe analysis, metallographic analysis, salt spray test, mechanical analysis and atomic absorption, with the use area of over 3,000 square meters. 

Third, it has realized plentiful innovation achievements. It owns more than 200 independent R&D core patents, and has undertaken two provincial major projects of technological breakthroughs and industrialization in Fujian successively. It has led the preparation of two group standards — Group Standards for Decorative Austenitic Stainless Steel Welded Steel Pipe and Group Standards for Decorative Cold-Rolled Austenitic Stainless Steel Plate. The number of newly developed product brands rose from 15 in 2015 to 39 in 2018, and the output jumped from 75,200 tons to 397,100 tons. The steel making and hot rolling stripping of 304 stainless decreased from 2.69% and 3.70% in 2015 to 0.14% and 1.77% in 2018 respectively. The product quality has achieved the domestic advanced level in the two fields of deep-pressing stainless steel products and 8K panel, and successfully settled in the high-end user groups such as Apple’s iPhone, ZWILLING cookware, Transcon IBC, Middle East oil and Dongfang Electric. In 2018, it launched the world’s first high-nitrogen, high corrosion-resistant, high-strength nickel-saving 304D austenitic stainless steel, which was another important technological innovation after RKEF+AOD technology in the development history of stainless steel.
